Walsh Approach Test: 'Five Biotypes of Depression' Lab Testing
Our telehealth service offers the Comprehensive Biotype Panel, a set of lab tests designed to identify nutrient imbalances linked to mood and behavioral disorders. Based on the Walsh Approach, it includes:
- Histamine/Homocysteine Test (Methylation Test): Determines methylation status to identify potential biotype imbalances. Homocysteine measurement helps form a nutrient plan and indicates possible cardiovascular and neurological inflammation.
- Copper/Zinc/Ceruloplasmin Test (Copper Overload Test): Detects copper overload, which is common in depression and anxiety disorders. Causes can include estrogen dominance, copper in diet or water sources, or occasionally pyroluria.
- Vitamin D Test: Included as depression is often associated with Vitamin D deficiency.
- Complete Blood Count (CBC) and Metabolic Panel: These provide critical information about red and white blood cells, basophils, kidney and liver function, blood sugar, and electrolyte status.
The Urinary Pyrroles test, previously included, is now separate due to price increases and its lower relevance for most depression cases.
We offer the option to order smaller portions of the panel, such as the Methylation Biotype Panel or the Copper Overload Panel, if you're on a budget or interested in specific biotypes.
We recommend the $299 Consultation with Biotype Report for personalized care and detailed interpretation of your test results This option includes a detailed report and a consultation with our telehealth doctor, Dr. David Epstein, D.O., to discuss your results and next steps.. If you're ordering fewer tests, a 20-Minute Phone Consultation is available for focused discussions, without report.
